Let the Adventure Begin!

Take a leisurely drive to divine Lake Pepin and stroll through the charming town of Lake City for an adventurous-fun day. Explore the pleasantries of Lake Pepin - a naturally occurring lake located ‘on’ the Mississippi River that borders Minnesota and Wisconsin. This vivacious valley was formed when the mighty Mississippi, a successor to the glacial river, was partially dammed by a delta from a tributary stream and spread out across the ancient valley at the end of the last Ice Age. This 45.7 square mile lake is known as the “birthplace of water skiing” and hosts a variety of recreational activities. Bait that hook for your try at catching Sauger, Northern Pike, White Bass, Large or Smallmouth Bass. Cruise the cool water by speedboat or pontoon. Walk along the hiking trails in Minnesota’s summer weather!

Lake City – casually nestled along the stunning shores of Lake Pepin, was recognized in the late 1930’s by famous author Laura Ingalls Wilder. Saunter the streets of Lake City-window shop and/or stop for a treat! Frontenac State Park a mere 5 miles north of Lake City is calling you. Notable for its history, the centerpiece of this prominent park is a 430-foot high, 3 mile-long steep limestone bluff overlooking Lake Pepin. The views will astonish and leave you breathless. The tiny town of Frontenac once was a high-class resort area at the end of the 19th century. MNWW recommends as a ‘must-do day-trip’!
